Your Names, Written in Real Kanji

These mugs don't exist yet. They get made after you order — and you decide what goes on them.

1. Choose your size and enter both names. Select 11oz or 15oz, then fill in the left-mug and right-mug name fields on this page before adding the pair to your cart. Please use letters A–Z.
2. Choose your kanji — this is the fun part. Minutes later an email lands from Your Name in Kanji <info@benkyou.jp> with a link to a page that is yours alone. Every name can be written several ways in Japanese, and they don't mean the same thing: EMMA can be 恵舞 — blessing and dance — or something else entirely. You read what each character actually means, and pick the one that sounds like the person. Nobody picks it for you.
3. See it, then say go. The page builds both mugs from the real print files — not a drawing of them — so what you see is what the printer gets. Press Confirm and they go straight into production. From that moment the pair belongs to nobody but you: your names, your characters, in your order. That's also why it can't be cancelled afterwards — there is no one else on earth these two mugs could go to.

Change your mind as often as you like. Swap a character, look again, swap it back — there is no limit until you press Confirm. Or cancel for a full refund. Nothing is locked in until you say so.

• Take the meaning with you: a certificate comes with it — every character, what it means, how it is read. Print it and stand it beside the mugs when you hand them over.
